Update on modelling activity

Well, it's time for another post, or so my good mate Roy tells me.
What's been happening since February? In no particular order:
  • MRC
  • Adding hinge detail to roof hatches
    • finished detailing the roof, assembled the end ladders from an etch donated by Tom Pall
    • finalised assembly then dispatched to the Miranda Car & Waggon Works for painting, decals and weathering
    • project complete

Ready for the paint shops

    • Auscision model acquired at Liverpool 2017
    • fitted Loksound V4 - my first sound install
42109 with the KP at the head of a mail train on Upper Hunter. The rest of the cars need a trip to the wheel lathe...or the fitting of AR Kits axles, if the proprietor ever fulfills my on-line order!

  • SMR22
    • now has a selection of 30 four-wheel hoppers and 2 brake vans to run with it

  • 7003
  • 7003 shunting Porkingham Smallgoods on Upper Hunter
    • needs some work, seems like gears are not meshing properly in one direction

  • China
    • a work trip in May resulted in spending too much on expanding the China Rail fleet
  • AMRA QLD
  • RM on a northbound train passing the Big Pineapple
    • I managed to fit in a visit to the clubrooms during a work trip, and gave the RM a run through the Sunshine State

  • Upper Hunter
    • visiting the club fairly frequently, running a variety of my gear including China Rail, US & NSWGR
Pennsy 2-10-4 Texas on the string of heavyweight PRR cars I acquried at Rosehill 2019. Modelling US is cheap ... $15 per car!

  • NSW Diesel Era Modellers running day in June
    • gave 42109 & 4914 a bit of a run on Binalong & Stockinbingal
    • 42109 with SIUs on Binalong
      • RUB set had a lot of issues, so was taken off an replaced with On-Track Models Suppliementary Interurban cars, built up with a few of Roy's kitbashes

42109 with additional cars on Stockbingal

42109 arriving at Stock from Parkes

  • RUB Set
  • Adapting Powerline bogies & promoting Beyond Bitumen!
Using an end mill to sort out the ride height of the cars
    • finished glazing
    • fitted most roof mounting blocks
    • sorted out discrepancies in ride height & standardised all sitting cars to run on salvaged Powerline 2AN bogies
    • started fitting Sydney Hobbies interiors

Repositioning under floor detail to clear the bogies after the disasters at DEM running day

  • Beyond Bitumen
    • Roy & I participated in our second fund-raiser for Beyond Blue, travelling from Yass to Cowra via West Wyalong, Hay, and Wagga Wagga in late March

 That's it for now!
